And the world's your oyster.
(Baby.)
The weekend's about done and my sister and bff are on the road, back to North Dakota and Iowa, respectively. We took in all Vermillion has to offer:
Our driveway
The Doo-Wop
the CSG
Pro's
Carey's
The Pub
The Clay County Fair
The Demolition Derby ("These colors don't run! Don't like America? Get the hell out!")
Poker Alice (where I chatted with M. who told me that Poker Alice at Carey's the previous evening was like "being in a Salvador Dali painting.")
101 omelets at the Cherry Street Grille.
I'm glad most of you got to meet Randy and Jen, as they are two of my most favorite people. We swapped stories about everything from elementary school to our farm dogs. We also finally agreed on the correct lyrics to Liz Phair's "Whip-Smart." This has been an issue since 1998. It's "when they do the double-dutch, that's them dancing," in case you and your friends are also debating this. It wouldn't surprise me.
Did she wake you up to tell you that it was only a change of plan?
I rambled around town on foot today, listening to music, walking down to the river, and up through campus. I had Neil Young playing and I think maybe that Vermillion is the town he sings about in "Harvest."
I guess it's a young girl's town.
I walked past the fountain in the front of the music museum and two little girls were going for a swim.
Dream up, dream up, let me fill your cup with the promise of a man ...

No better way to appreciate the familiar than to view it through a fresh set of eyes...you make Verm sound like a bona fide destination! :)
Ever since you put this blog up (almost a week now) I've totally had one night in Bangkok in my head.
Arggggggg.
Dam you Murray for being So Good!
I should play the original version of "Whip Smart" for you sometime. Instead of the 'double dutch' lyrics, it goes something like, "emmo, emmo, emmo-ettes."
